Find Arrest Records in Worcester
Worcester arrest records are maintained by the Worcester Police Department and Worcester County courts, but access is more restricted here than in most Massachusetts cities. This page covers who can request records, how the process works, what courts handle criminal cases, and how state law shapes what is and is not available to the public.

Important: Worcester Arrest Records Are Not Fully Public
Note: Worcester Police Department arrest records are NOT available to the general public. Access is limited to victims, authorized representatives, individuals with court orders, and persons with a documented relationship to the case. If you do not fall into one of these categories, you will not receive a copy of the arrest report directly from the department.
This policy is stricter than what most Massachusetts cities apply. Worcester Police cite privacy protections and departmental policy as the basis. State law does require police logs to be public under MGL c. 41, § 98F, so basic log entries showing names, dates, and charges are still accessible. But the full report text is not given out on general request.
If you need a record for a legal proceeding, your attorney can seek it through the court system. Court-filed documents, including charging papers and affidavits, are part of the public court record and are accessible through masscourts.org or the clerk's office at Worcester District Court or Superior Court.
How to Request Records if You Are Authorized
If you are a victim, an authorized representative, or have a court order, you can request records in writing. Write a letter that states your relationship to the case, the case details (date, location, names involved), your reason for the request, and your contact information. Send it to: Worcester Police Dept, Attn: Records Bureau, 9-11 Lincoln Square, Worcester, MA 01608.
You can also fax your request to (508) 799-8680. Calling first is a good idea. Reach the Records Bureau at (508) 799-8630 to ask about the process and confirm what you need to include before sending anything. Staff can tell you whether your specific request falls within the types they can fulfill.
Fees vary by record type. Accident reports typically cost between $5 and $10. Incident report fees depend on the length and type of document. Ask when you call. Under MGL c. 66, § 10, the standard public records fee cap of $0.05 per page and two free hours of search time applies to records that are subject to public disclosure.
Worcester County Court Records
Criminal cases in Worcester are filed in one of two courts. The Worcester District Court at 225 Main Street, phone (508) 831-2000, handles misdemeanors, arraignments, and lower-level cases. The Worcester Superior Court at 200 Main Street, phone (508) 831-2100, handles felonies and more serious matters.
Both courts are part of the Massachusetts Trial Court system. You can look up docket information, case status, and hearing dates online through masscourts.org. The public search covers open and closed cases. You can search by name or case number. Some records are sealed and will not appear in public search results.
Court clerks can provide copies of charging documents, docket sheets, and judgments. In-person visits to the clerk's office are the most reliable way to get complete records for older cases that may not be fully digitized. Both Worcester courts are open Monday through Friday during regular business hours.
CORI and State Criminal History Records
Massachusetts criminal history is tracked through the CORI system. Under MGL c. 6, § 167, CORI covers arrest records, charges filed, and case outcomes for anyone 18 or older. The system is maintained at the state level by the Department of Criminal Justice Information Services, separate from local police records.
Under MGL c. 6, § 172, access to CORI depends on how a case ended. Non-conviction records, meaning arrests that did not lead to a guilty finding, are available for immediate review or sealing. Misdemeanor convictions stay on standard CORI background checks for five years. Felony convictions remain visible for 10 years. After those periods, the records do not appear in standard checks.
Worcester residents can check their own record at any time through www.mass.gov/icori. The iCORI system provides a self-request at no cost and shows exactly what a background check would reveal. This is useful if you are unsure what shows up or want to verify that a sealing or expungement was processed correctly.
For sealing, MGL c. 276, § 100A sets the waiting periods: three years for misdemeanors, seven years for felonies, measured from the date of conviction or release from custody, whichever is later. Non-conviction records can be automatically sealed under MGL c. 276, § 100C with no waiting period. If you want to pursue expungement for a first-time low-level offense, MGL c. 276, §§ 100E through 100U lays out the eligibility rules.
District Attorney and Prosecution
The Worcester District Attorney's Office is at 225 Main Street, Worcester, phone (508) 755-8601, website www.worcesterda.com. If you are looking for the outcome of a criminal case that went through the DA's office, the court docket at masscourts.org is the best starting point. You can find the case by defendant name or docket number and see the full disposition history, including any appeal filings.
Worcester County Arrest Records Online
The website worcesterrecords.us/arrest-records aggregates publicly available criminal records information for Worcester County. Third-party aggregator sites like this pull data from court records, public filings, and other public sources. They are not official government databases, and records may not be current or complete.
Always verify information through official sources. The court docket system and the police department's public log are the most accurate places to confirm whether a record is real and up to date. Third-party sites can be a useful starting point, but they should not be the only source you check.
Sex Offender Registry
Massachusetts requires Level 2 and Level 3 sex offenders to be listed in the public registry. The Sex Offender Registry Board maintains the searchable database at www.mass.gov/sorb. You can search by name or zip code. Level 1 offenders are not shown publicly. The registry is updated as offenders register, move, or change status.
State Police Records
If an incident in Worcester involved Massachusetts State Police, records requests go through a separate process. The State Police public records page is at www.mass.gov/public-records-for-the-massachusetts-state-police. State Police handle certain highways, state properties, and cases that cross local jurisdiction. Their records are subject to the same 10-day response rule under MGL c. 66, § 10.
Domestic Violence Records
Note: Under MGL c. 41, § 97D, police reports that involve domestic violence are not public records anywhere in Massachusetts, including Worcester. These reports are protected to safeguard victims. Court-issued abuse prevention orders may still appear in the court system, but the underlying police report is withheld.
