Their facility, the Plymouth County Correctional Facility, is at 24 Long Pond Road, Plymouth, MA 02360. The main phone number is (508) 830-6200. To request arrest or booking records, call that number and ask for the Records Division. You can also mail a written request to the Records Division at the same address.

Plymouth County arrest records information and search portal

The Sheriff's Office holds booking records for people processed through the Plymouth County Correctional Facility. These records include the booking date, charges at the time of arrest, and basic identifying information. The Sheriff does not maintain records for every arrest in the county since many arrests are handled at the town or city level. For arrests that did not result in a stay at the correctional facility, you need to contact the local police department where the arrest happened.

Under MGL c. 66, § 10, paper copies of public records cost $0.05 per page. The first two hours of staff search time are free. After that, agencies may charge up to $25 per hour. There is no requirement to give a reason for your request or to identify yourself.

Plymouth Police Department Records

Office hours for in-person requests are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Plymouth Police Department records portal for Plymouth County arrest records

Plymouth Police offer an online records request option. Go to plymouthpolice.com, click the Records Request link, fill out the form, and submit it online. The department aims to respond within 10 business days, which is the deadline set by state law. Accident reports typically cost between $5 and $10. Arrest record copies follow the standard $0.05 per page rate under state public records law.

The department also publishes arrest logs as required by MGL c. 41, § 98F. Police logs must be public and must include the time, location, and nature of each incident. These logs are one of the fastest ways to find recent arrest activity in Plymouth without filing a formal request.

Brockton Police Department and Arrest Logs

Brockton is Plymouth County's largest city by population and generates a significant share of the county's total arrest data. The Brockton Police Department is at 7 Commercial Street, Brockton, MA 02302. Their records line is (508) 941-0234, and their website is brocktonpolice.com. Chief Brenda I. Perez has led the department since 2022.

Brockton Police Department website showing Plymouth County arrest records resources

Brockton Police publish several public resources online, including police logs, a sex offender map, and downloadable documents and forms. You can submit a public records request through the department's website. The sex offender information links directly to the state's Sex Offender Registry Board (SORB), which is a separate database maintained by the state. SORB records are not the same as arrest records but are publicly accessible at no cost.

For arrests that happened in Brockton, the Brockton Police Department is the primary source. Court records for Brockton cases are handled by the Brockton Superior Court at 215 Main Street or the Brockton District Court, both of which are searchable through the MassCourts online portal.

Other Plymouth County Police Departments

Outside of Brockton and Plymouth, the county has many smaller town police departments that each maintain their own arrest logs and records. Here are key contacts for towns that generate regular record requests.

Marshfield Police are at 1639 Ocean Street, (781) 834-6655. Scituate Police are at 116 First Parish Road, (781) 545-1212. Whitman Police are at 245 South Avenue, (781) 447-1212. Abington Police are at 215 Central Street, (781) 878-3232. Bridgewater Police are at 220 Broad Street, (508) 697-6118. Each department handles its own public records requests. All are required to respond within 10 business days under state law.

Note: Under MGL c. 41, § 97D, domestic violence incident reports are not public records and will not be released through a standard public records request, regardless of which Plymouth County agency holds them.

When you are not sure which town handled the arrest, a good starting point is the MassCourts case search. Cases are filed by court location, and the court name usually tells you which city or town the arrest happened in.

Plymouth County Courts and Case Records

Plymouth County has two Superior Courts and six District Courts. The Plymouth County Superior Court is at 52 Obery Street, Plymouth, MA 02360, phone (508) 747-8400. The Brockton Superior Court is at 215 Main Street, Brockton. Superior Court handles serious felony charges, jury trials, and major civil matters. District Courts handle arraignments, misdemeanors, and pre-trial hearings for many felony cases.

District Court locations in Plymouth County include Plymouth, Brockton, Wareham, Hingham, Marshfield, and Scituate. You can search cases from all of these courts through the MassCourts Electronic Case Access system at no cost. The ECA shows docket entries, charges, case status, and scheduled hearing dates. It is a good first step before contacting any specific court office.

The Plymouth County District Attorney is Timothy J. Cruz. His office is at 32 Belmont Street, Brockton, MA 02303, phone (508) 584-8120. The DA's website is at plymouthda.com. The DA does not hold arrest records directly, but their office handles prosecution of cases across the county and may have information about cases they have prosecuted.

CORI and Online Record Searches

The state's Criminal Offender Record Information system, known as CORI, is the formal mechanism for background checks in Massachusetts. Under MGL c. 6, § 167, CORI covers arrests, charges, pre-trial proceedings, sentencing, and incarceration for people 18 and older. The iCORI online system lets individuals request their own CORI for free. Authorized employers and agencies can also access CORI through the system, subject to rules set by the Department of Criminal Justice Information Services.

Access restrictions depend on the type of record. Under MGL c. 6, § 172, non-conviction records are available to the subject and to certain authorized parties right away. Misdemeanor conviction records have a 5-year wait period. Felony conviction records have a 10-year wait before broader access applies. These wait periods reflect the state's policy of limiting how long old records stay visible in standard background checks. If you only need your own record, the iCORI system is the fastest and cheapest route.

The Plymouth County arrest records database is another resource for searching public arrest data across the county. It aggregates publicly available information and can be useful for initial lookups, though official agency requests will always be more complete.

Sealing and Expungement in Plymouth County

If you have an old Plymouth County arrest on your record, you may be able to seal or expunge it. MGL c. 276, § 100A lets you petition a court to seal a misdemeanor conviction after 3 years from the end of your sentence, and a felony conviction after 7 years. Sealed records do not show up in most background checks. The petition is filed at the court where the case was heard, which would be one of the Plymouth County courts listed above.

Non-conviction records get different treatment. MGL c. 276, § 100C provides for automatic sealing of dismissed cases and not-guilty verdicts. These should seal without any action on your part, but it is worth pulling your CORI to confirm the record has been cleared. Errors do happen in the system. For cases that qualify, MGL c. 276, §§ 100E-100U covers expungement, which permanently destroys the record rather than just sealing it. The CORI laws page at Mass.gov has a plain-language summary of eligibility requirements for both sealing and expungement.
